Your money that is donated can help impact an elderly persons life in many ways:
- £15 helps to fuel our mini-buses
- £100 provides many hot‚ nourishing meals at a day centre
- £200 goes towards day trips for our clients
- £500 could help pay for wheelchair access on our mini buses and in the day centres
We raise money for our services through:
Fundraising
Within our centres, through raffles, events and appeals
Grant applications
Some of our services are partially or fully supported by funding from Kent County Council, Maidstone Borough Council and West Kent Primary Care Trust for which we are grateful.
Donations
These are always welcome and help fully fund some of our services.
Legacies
Remembering Age Concern in your will is a special and thoughtful gesture, appreciated by many. It will help to secure the happy future of many elderly people and continue the good work of the organisation in the Maidstone area.
We are grateful for any amount that is donated, and over a third of our voluntary income comes from legacies.
If you would like more information on how to plan your will to include Age Concern go to www.ageconcern.org.uk
Payroll donation
You can opt to regularly donate to us through your pay before any tax is deducted. This ensure that the amount taken from your pension or salary is tax free.
For example: If you pledge us £10 per month we will receive the full £10 but only £8 (after minimum tax is taken amount) will be deducted from your pay.
If you pay the higher rate of tax (40%) then only £6 would be deducted, as charities are currently not able to claim back the higher rate of tax through payroll giving.
How do I give to Age Concern?
You will need to contact your payroll department with the amount you wish to donate and they will deal with the rest of it. They will register with a payroll giving agency who can process all employee donations.
Can I stop the payments?
You can cease the donations anytime and you are not committed long term in anyway. Simply inform your payroll department and if you move employments you will need to register again, as the details are not transferable.
Charity Shops
Age Concern has a number of charity shops throughout the United Kingdom whose proceeds play a significant part in raising money for cause. The shops rely heavily on the donations of unwanted items to sell on to customers at a small price.
The dedicated staff and volunteers at the shops ensure that everyone is happy with any goods purchased and the maximum amount of money possible is raised for the charity.
