We are continually in need of volunteers to help us in driving our minibuses, escorting and helping at the day centres.

If you are interested in helping a very worthwhile cause please

Since we were first founded in 1957 under the original name of Maidstone Old Peoples Welfare Committee, we have come a long way.

After becoming a registered charity in 1957, and becoming members of the Age Concern Federation we gained extra support from local organisations and the public through our persistent fund raising. Our local patrons include artist, Graham Clark and the MP Anne Widdecombe, who are both dedicated to charity.

A recent report published in April 2009 by Age Concern and Help the Aged called ‘One Voice: Shaping our Ageing Society’ has found that one in ten people aged 65 or over perceive themselves to be often or always lonely, that equates to more than 1 million of our elderly generation feel isolated and depressed.

Here, in Maidstone, the team are dedicated to improving the quality of life of the elderly living in and around the area. We take on as many clients possible for all of our services, the day centres alone have over 370 clients attending at least one day a week. Our over 50’s foot clinic and computer classes are increasingly popular and in total we have over 1560 clients.

Each Age Concern from the smallest village group to the largest countrywide organisation is an equal member of the federation and an independent charity with its own Trustees, constitution and funding.

The team here, at Maidstone, are committed to the relentless running of the charity and will strive to help any elderly person that cries for their help.
