Do you have an inspiring story to tell?

Age Concern England, soon to be Age UK, are looking for your stories celebrating ageing and what you think are the best bits about growing older and wiser.

Stories can be either be about the positive things you do‚ or someone you know does.  It could be something that has helped other people in your local community‚ such as a club you run‚ or something more personal‚ such as an unusual hobby your friend’s taken up‚ a family commitment you’ve made‚ or a life-long dream that’s been finally fulfilled.

It doesn’t have to be something that you do every day, it could be a one off event, either way Age Concern England want to hear about it.

You can send in your stories by emailing mystory@ageuk.org.uk‚ by calling

0800 169 8787‚ or by visiting your local Help the Aged or Age Concern shop.

(* If you are submitting a story about someone else‚ please ensure you get their permission before contacting us.)

Have a dignified day on the 25th of February

This month, on Thursday the 25th as part of an initiative from the Dignity in Care Campaign and its partners, the nation will be celebrating Dignity Action Day.

The campaign launched back in November 2006 and May 2008 Sir Michael Parkinson became the face and ambassador of the campaign; he believes that    “Dignity in Care must be everybody’s business. I hope people will step up to this challenge and do whatever is in their power to make a difference”

As always, Age Concern Maidstone is taking the campaign seriously and full of gusto making sure that the day brings staff, members of the public and clients together to make a difference to those receiving care.

We have planned for information stands to be in our Shepway Court and Greenborough centres, supplying information and advice about dignity and services available, and the staff have arranged the opportunity for everyone to have a little pampering done.

Please give your support towards the campaign and for more information on how to become a dignity champion look online at www.dignityincare.org.uk
